Taylor Germplasm sand dropseed is a selected native release developed by the Texas Native Seeds Program in cooperation with the USDA-NRCS James E. “Bud” Smith Plant Materials Center and Texas A&M AgriLife Research. The release originated from native populations collected across the Central Texas Basin, Rolling Red Plains, Cross Timbers, and Rolling Limestone Prairie regions. It was selected for its strong seed production, dense foliage, and reliable establishment on sandy to clay loam soils, making it well suited for wildlife habitat, erosion control, and restoration plantings throughout central Texas.
